Jesper's off again....

Jesper Olsen running through Ireland

In 2005, Jesper Olsen from Denmark completed the first fully certified run around the globe. Many people in the ultrarunning community turned out to support him in his 18 month oddyssey, among them runners from the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team. I have very fond memories of Jesper running through Ireland, you can read my account here...

So it was with no little joy that I read yesterday his plans for another traverse of the globe, this time from north to south. First he will go from Europe to the southern tip of Africa, then from Tierra del Fuego to the northernmost point of Canada. When you put those two journeys together, thats about as close to a longtitudinal circuit of the globe as youll get. Rather than taking all the glory for himself, Jesper is trying very hard to get a team together so they can all share in the experience. Jesper is such a nice guy and you only want the best things in life to happen to him.

  • Website for the original World Run , complete with blog entries and photos. Jesper had this cool James Bond like thingy that was a satellite phone, a GPS tracker that logged his position to within 10 meters, and a camera that uploaded pictures to the website within 2 minutes of him taking it .I wonder is there is some wizened old 'Q' in some underground lair in Denmark working on a souped-up version for Run no. 2... :)
